The Shevchenko Scientific Society in the U.S. (NTSh-A) announces an open competition for fellowships supported by the Shevchenko Emergency Fund. These fellowships are meant to provide assistance to Ukrainian scholars, writers, and artists affected by the war. Approximately half of the fellowships will be non-residential and will be given to awardees currently in Ukraine. The other half will be residential fellowships awarded to those currently in the United States who have been affected by the war.
Fellowships will include a one-time payment of $500 to $2,000, an affiliation with the Shevchenko Scientific Society in the U.S., a profile page on our website, and access to a shevchenko.org email address.
Applicants should submit the following items (in English or Ukrainian) by email to emergencyfund@shevchenko.org:
- Short Curriculum Vitae (1 page)
- Statement (1 page maximum) that describes candidate’s scholarly or creative profile and description of need.
Applications will be evaluated 50% on overall profile and 50% on need. Applications will be reviewed by a Committee made up of members of NTSh-A with a variety of professional backgrounds. The deadline for submitting applications is June 13, 2022.
This round of fellowships is supported by the Shevchenko Emergency Fund, a fund-raising initiative of the Shevchenko Scientific Society in the U.S. NTSh-A expresses its gratitude to the large number of donors who contributed to this fund, as well as to participants of the Expertise-a-thon for Ukraine that took place on April 29.
The Shevchenko Scientific Society, Inc is exempt from Federal Income Tax under the provision of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Receipts for tax purposes are provided for all donations to the Society.
