Ukrainian researchers have offered a wide variety of interpretations of Lesia Ukrainka’s works, especially her dramaturgy. Writer Yevheniia Kononenko offers an interpretation of Lesia Ukrainka’s dramaturgy using the analytical psychology apparatus of Carl Gustav Jung, one of the most prominent thinkers of the 20th century. The author analyzes not only the ideas of Lesia Ukrainka’s dramas but also the personalities of the characters in these dramas, who are carriers of various ideas. The main marker of the study is the concept of consciousness. How aware are Lesya’s characters? And how aware was the poetess herself, giving them life?
Yevheniia Kononenko was born in Kyiv in 1959. In 1981, she graduated from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, then worked for several years as a programmer in various institutions in Kyiv.
