Harvard University professor George Grabowicz book is devoted to issues of the symbolic autobiography and the modern reception of Taras Shevchenko. The 200-year anniversary of the poet’s birth gave the researcher a good opportunity to resume discussions on the fundamental issues of Shevchenko studies. Added to the articles and essays published in the first edition (2000) is “Archetypes of Shevchenko,” which is an expanded version of the article written for the first volume of the Shevchenko Encyclopedia (2012).
