The Shevchenko Scientific Society in the U.S. condemns Russia’s war against Ukraine in the strongest possible terms. This attack is unprovoked, unjustified, and unlawful. It is a clear violation of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Our hearts are with our colleagues, sister organizations, and the people of Ukraine in this extraordinarily challenging time.
We also note that this attack is accompanied by a Russian disinformation campaign, distortions of history, and severe restrictions on access to information within Russia. This underscores all the more the importance of truth, scholarly inquiry, and dialogue, values that define the activities of the Shevchenko Scientific Society in the U.S. and those pursuing knowledge all over the world.
