This edition is comprised of three books: the facsimile “Haidamaky” from1841;  “Shevchenko’s Haidamaky “: The Poem and its Critical Reception”, a monograph by Dr. George G. Grabowicz and Oles Fedoruk’s “The First Edition of Shevchenko’s Haidamaky: The History Of the Book.”

The facsimile of Haidamaky very carefully reproduces with extreme precision the original: the number of pages, their size, the quality of the paper and, most importantly, the text. Dr. Grabowicz’s research and interpretation present in a new way and in a global context  both the reception of the work, its form and content, as well as the role of the poem in the formation of Shevchenko as a national poet. In a generously illustrated commentary, Oles Fedoruk studies the printed and archival sources related to the history of the writing of the poem, its publication and dissemination.
