AUDITING COMMITTEE REPORT

The recent Vitvitsky open letter (circulated to the voting membership via email, Monday, Oct 18, 2021) contained allegations of inappropriate use of the Shevchenko Scientific Society of America (Society) funds. The Society’s constitution requires the Auditing Committee (AC) to investigate these allegations. According to the Corporate By-Laws of the Shevchenko Scientific Society of America (2003):

The duties of the Auditing Committee include the following: overview of management by the Society’s Officers concerning the Society’s financial and other assets; auditing the compliance of all operations of the Society consistent with its By-Laws, and decisions of the General Meetings and the Board of Directors.

At a quarterly meeting of the Society’s board, members discussed the allegations that former President George Grabowycz used the Society’s funds “as his personal piggy bank.” Board members requested that the AC examine these allegations and decide whether to investigate.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO VOTE?

HOW DO I VOTE?

To vote in the election of the new Board and Auditing Committee:

To do so, you MUST submit a letter both to your proxy and to info@shevchenko.org in advance of the meeting. The letter should indicate specifically to whom the voting member wishes to assign their proxy vote.

Full and Corresponding members who cannot attend the meeting are encouraged to submit their ballot for the new Board and Audit Committee by mail, regardless of whether they have chosen to assign their vote on procedural issues to a proxy.
